Matheran is a hill station and a municipal council in the Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a hill station in Karjat Tahsil and is also the smallest hill station in India. Matheran is situated amidst the Jambol forest at 803 meters above sea level Matheran is explicitly placed in the lap of the Sahyadri Mountains. The best time to visit this lovely hill resort is during the months of April to May.
